What's next for cricket in Barbados? Cricket is something of a religion in Barbados and it is well worth attending any match in either the local inter-island series or a test series, as much for the theatre of the stadium as for the cricket. Kensington Oval, one of the Caribbean's main International Test grounds, is located in Fontabelle on the outskirts of Bridgetown. It has undergone redevelopment for the ICC Cricket World Cup and has a capacity of approximately 28,000 spectators, the largest in the region, and additional facilities including a new player's pavilion, a museum, a new media centre and indoor sports facilities.
Barbados is the home of many world class cricketers and is one of the international cricket capitals of the world - Sir Garfield Sobers and Brian Lara are just two in a long list of great Barbados cricketers. The island plays host to various test series, One Day Internationals and 20/20 tournaments throughout the year. Have a look at our Barbados Calendar of Events for max fixtures and dates.
Why not have a two-centre Caribbean Cricket experience? While you are in the Caribbean, you might want to island-hop and visit another Caribbean island. St Vincent and the Grenadines are just a short plane journey from Barbados (click on the island names to go to our comprehensive island guides for each island or follow the links from the bottom of the page).
