Beach & Swimming You can hear the sound of waves on nearby Trouya Bay from Cinnamon Beach Villa. At the near end of the bay, which is within walking distance of the villa, is a charming, fairly secluded section of golden sand that is considered a bit of a hideaway. The beach is backed by trees and is completely undeveloped, so there are no facilities. There are no life guards, so swim with caution and heed local advice. The bay is popular for snorkelling, and the guests of nearby Windjammer Landing sometimes visit by boat. At weekends and bank holidays the St Lucians head there for picnics, but otherwise it is often deserted.
Reduit Beach, the island’s most popular, takes about 10 minutes to reach by car. It is a lovely mile-long stretch of powder soft sand, fairly active with a number of hotels and a variety of watersports, including waterskiing, parasailing, jetskis, sunfish and hobie cat sailing.
Cinnamon Beach Villa’s swimming pool is located below the villa at road level and it is reached by an exterior stairway. Set within a terracotta tile sun terrace the pool has entry steps to the shallow end. |

Sports & Recreation The 18-hole, 6829 yard, par 71 course at the St Lucia Golf & Country Club in Cap Estate is ten minutes drive away. It has a pro shop, driving range and restaurant. The nearest tennis courts open to the public (courts must be booked in advance) are at the Rex St Lucian in Rodney Bay and at the St Lucia Racquet Club at Club St Lucia, also on the Cap Estate. Here you will find seven floodlit Laykold cushioned tennis courts, a squash court and gym. There are also two squash courts at the St Lucia Yacht Club on Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay. The Sportivo fitness centre at Rodney Heights is St Lucia’s largest gym. It offers yoga, Tai Chi and karate classes. There is a full service spa at LeSport Hotel which you can visit with a day pass. |

Locality Cinnamon Beach Villa is located in Trouya, a small residential area with private homes and holiday villas just south of Rodney Bay. Rodney Bay itself, which is 10 minutes drive away, is St Lucia’s busiest tourist area. It has several hotels, some of the best restaurants on the island, many bars – there is a lively nightlife - a shopping mall, banks, mini marts and a supermarket (on the main road, called Super J). There is a busy marina that attracts over 200 yachts for the annual ARC (trans-Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) which usually sees its first arrivals in early December.
The nearby village of Gros Islet hosts the now famous Friday Night Jump Up, an all night street party. And on the other side of the bay is Pigeon Island National Park, a forty four acre National Trust reserve, which can be reached by car or by ferry from Rodney Bay. It has the ruins of many 18th century British and French military buildings, including Fort Rodney. There is an Interpretation Centre, a restaurant with local cuisine, a historical themed pub, a beach bar and a lookout point at the top of the fort. Pigeon Island is also the main venue of the annual St Lucia Jazz Festival, held each May, which attracts a host of international stars. Castries, the capital of St Lucia, and George FL Charles Airport (formerly known as Vigie), which receives inter-island flights only, are about 20 minutes drive south of Trouya. |

Useful Hints Ask your travel organiser or the management company (if booking direct) for initial food and drink supplies to be laid in for your arrival (a starter food pack costs approximately US$40 per person), so that the cook/housekeeper can prepare a simple welcome meal for you. Thereafter, your housekeeper will be happy to assist you with your shopping should you wish to delegate this chore, however do expect to provide transport and an appropriate gratuity for this service. Rental rates for villas in St Lucia do not include ‘tips’, about which you will find advice in the guest information book at the villa.
Personal laundry is not included in the rental rates and charges are approximately as follows: machine wash small load EC$10, hand wash small load EC$25 and ironing small load EC$25.
Due to its hillside setting and multi-level layout Cinnamon Beach is not suitable for the elderly or infirm, and would not suit those who prefer to have the swimming pool close to the main hub of their villa. |

Getting Around A hired car is strongly recommended for all St Lucia villas, unless you would prefer staff to call taxis for you as required. A vehicle will be useful if you want to dine out at night or do lots of sightseeing and particularly when it comes to shopping for groceries. A jeep would be the most suitable choice of vehicle when staying at Cinnamon Beach Villa. Book car hire via your travel organiser or direct with Drive-A-Matic (Tropical Villas can also book this for you) or Cool Breeze Car & Jeep Rentals and ask for your vehicle to be delivered to the property approximately 3 hours after your scheduled time of arrival on St Lucia or the following morning. Vehicles can be returned at the airport or be collected from the property at a pre-arranged time on your departure day. |
