Locality
Shoal Bay Villas are located directly on Anguilla’s most popular beach, which stretches for two miles along the north shore of the island. There are a number of hotels, restaurants and bars strung along it. It is not crowded but there are other properties either side of Shoal Bay Villas. Watersports options include diving (there is a dive shop located closeby) and a range of activities is available along the beach from para sailing and windsurfing to kayaking. Guests can walk to the popular Uncle Ernie's beach bar which along with other bars attracts the party crowd for the live music on Sunday afternoons. Other bars and restaurants within walking distance include Zara's, Madeariman’s, Elodias and Gwen's Reggae Bar & Grill.

The nearest well stocked supermarkets are located in the Valley, about ten minutes drive from the villas, and a self service Laundromat is also located about five minutes away by car. Shoal Bay is towards the east end of Anguilla, not far from the local town of Island Harbour where you will find a few local shops and a couple of restaurants including the excellent Hibernia. In the harbour itself is Scilly Cay, which is a very popular day out for its lobster lunch and swimming. The Valley is ten minutes drive to the west.

Meet & Greet
If you are travelling independently, taxis are usually available at the airport, from where the ride takes around 10 minutes, depending on the traffic and costs US$12 ($16 from the ferry at Blowing Point).

If you are booking through a travel organiser, it is likely that their representative will be at the airport to meet you. This service and your return airport transfers should be included in the cost of your holiday. Please check at the time of booking.

Getting Around
There is plenty close at hand in Shoal Bay but if you want to explore and visit restaurants in the evening, and of course visit the shops to stock up, then you will basically need a car, unless you prefer staff to call taxis for you as required. There is no public transport in Anguilla. It is a good idea to book in advance via your travel organiser or we can recommend
Avis/Apex Car Rental. They will deliver to the property and issue your Anguillian driving licence, price US$20. Vehicles can be left at the airport or be collected from the property at a pre-arranged time on your departure day.

Be aware that around Christmas there can be a shortage of cars in Anguilla, so you are advised to book well in advance. Also book early if you want one for a week or more because the pre-booked rates can be better. Taxis are readily available through the reception at the hotel, through drivers who remain on property.
