Anguilla’s independent villa market is well established, with a wide range of properties from 1 bedroom beach bungalows to 10 bedroom luxury estates. Most of these villas are required by law to be affiliated with some sort of villa management company, but the list of services and to what extent this organisation actually represents the property itself varies greatly. There are many new management firms emerging but in general, villa management companies on Anguilla are still playing catch-up with those on some of the region’s more developed islands in terms of the services and standards offered. Villas which are primarily managed by owners or dedicated property-managers tend to rate the highest for overall guest satisfaction and quality of services.

Some villa management companies on the island are more reliable than others; the best advice is to stick with the major companies which have good reviews and a solid reputation.

Some villa rental agents can organise certain add-on services such as ‘Kids Coordinators’, yoga instructors, gourmet personal chefs and personal trainers; however it is still quite a limited area in terms of the number and availability of well-trained professionals, so you need to make your wishes known at the time of booking, and book early particularly for the busier months (December-March). Even making dinner reservations in advance is recommended, as the best venues get booked up during high-season.

One recent development in Anguillian villa management is the introduction of internationally-recognised standards of Starkey Institute of Household Management on the island. The first Anguillian to graduate from their rigorous training program currently manages Ani Villas, but villa service standards are expected to rise island-wide as a result of the island’s affiliation with the company.
