Antigua and Barbuda / All-Inclusive

Several hotels in Antigua are all-inclusive, but a number of them have managed to avoid the obvious pitfalls of adopting this formula.  While going all-inclusive undoubtedly brings lower prices, one of the biggest drawbacks can be the uniformity of style that it brings which affects the guest experience.

Not only do local bars and restaurants suffer from the resultant loss of trade, but the hotel guests themselves miss out on the authentic experiences of the destination.

However, a number of smaller all-inclusive hotels on Antigua have managed to retain their individuality and let their charm and style shine through despite offering an all-in product. 

Some Antigua hotels also offer an all-inclusive plan alongside room-only or half-board. While this is a commendable compromise, such a system can cause confusion over which guests do or do not need to pay for drinks and other items, sometimes requiring all-inclusive guests to wear somewhat tacky wristbands for the duration of their stay.

On Barbuda there are two upmarket all-inclusive hotels, Coco Point Lodge and the Lighthouse Bay Resort, plus the hideaway North Beach resort consisting of four bungalows set on a deserted 12-mile pink sand beach.
