Barbados / All-Inclusive

By Sara Macefield

Unlike many of its larger Caribbean neighbours, Barbados has never been a big player in the all-inclusive market.

The two major chains that dominate other major West Indian destinations have failed to establish themselves here, leaving the concept to individual properties or small hotel groups.

But the concept has taken a stronger hold in the mass market resorts along the South Coast, notably the St Lawrence Gap area where more mass market resorts are located.  Of those hotels that have taken the all-inclusive route in this area, it has unfortunately led to a uniformity of product and loss of character, resulting in a loss of experience for guests.

Also the rise in all-inclusive hotels on Barbados has led to the loss of a number of midmarket properties, leading to something of a shortage in this category.

Fortunately there are a handful of all-inclusive hotels on Barbados’s more exclusive West Coast and these have managed to successfully retain their character and style.

Please see below for our Barbados all-inclusive resort recommendations and listings.
