Sea-U Guest House hotel is a delightful, small independent hotel set in very pretty gardens overlooking the wild Atlantic coast of Barbados. It centres on a main house and cottage - clapboard houses with large, ocean-facing verandas and elegantly simple furniture – but while these make a traditional Caribbean setting, Sea-U’s atmosphere is emphatically modern Caribbean, with a lovely, low-key air and plenty of corners in which to relax, in hefty wooden Adirondack chairs and in hammocks that hang on the veranda and between the garden palms.

In Depth
The small hotel is remote geographically - and spiritually - from the social whirl of the better known Barbados West Coast. Here, you can expect to live life quietly to the pleasant background rumble of the ocean waves. And explore the area. Wild beaches, with safe swimming, and gardens, are not far off. Surfing is right offshore. This is the best of the East Coast, the island’s natural side that is so good for independent travellers.
A few years ago the much anticipated upper floor units in Sea-U’s Main House became available. Having lived upstairs for over a decade, Sea-U’s owner, Uschi Wetzels moved to a new home nearby. These delightful suites are available either as separate units or as a two-bedroom apartment. Fully refurbished at the time, they feature lofty ceilings, wooden floors, king-size beds and en suite bathrooms, and share the airy covered veranda which runs along the entire frontage. Owner Suite 1 is the smaller of the two and has a bedroom, an adjacent study with a small fridge plus coffee/tea making facilities, and the en suite has a walk-in shower. Owner Suite 2 is a one-bedroom apartment with a living/dining area and separate kitchen (there is an additional dining area out on the veranda), spacious bedroom with mahogany sleigh bed and the en suite bathroom has a walk-in shower plus a Jacuzzi bath tub.

Owner Suite 1 is located on the top floor and has a bedroom with king-size bed, a small fridge plus coffee/tea making facilities are in an adjacent study and the en suite has a walk-in shower. Owner Suite 2 next door is a larger one-bedroom apartment with living/dining room and separate kitchen (fully equipped), a second dining table and chairs are out on the veranda, bedroom with king-size mahogany sleigh bed and the en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower plus a Jacuzzi bath tub. Both units open out to a shared ocean view veranda. Cottage 2 x Superior Studios are located upstairs and share the covered veranda which is furnished with deck chairs and hammocks. Both studios are air-conditioned, have ceiling fans and king-size beds (one a four poster and the other bamboo), sitting area and a kitchenette with fridge and hot plate, and en suite bathrooms with shower. 1 x One-Bedroom Apartment is located downstairs, has air-conditioning, ceiling fans, a small corner veranda with hammock and step leading onto the lawn. There is a compact living area with breakfast bar, adjacent full kitchen and separate bedroom with a king-size mahogany bed and en suite with walk-in-shower. There is a no smoking policy throughout Sea-U Guest House
