Dominican Republic / Villas & Villa Living

By Fiona Dunlop

There are plenty of private villas to rent, many being part of a villa resort or purpose built community. Depending on the price level, some have their own pools, others share pools and numerous other services. Las Terrenas and Las Galeras have a wider spectrum of independent villas to rent, some hyper modern and some quaintly quirky. The spectacular Playa Grande golf course, near Cabrera, has inspired many luxury private villas, and Cofresi, just west of Puerto Plata, conceals a few between its many condo developments. More Dominican in style, are the individually designed villas in stunning Palmar de Ocoa, looking west across the Bahia de Ocoa towards Azua, west of Santo Domingo. Rented villas usually include staff with optional cooking. Researching and booking online is the best option for any of these.
