Saba / Boutique/Small Hotels & Inns

By Nigel Tisdall

Most visitors to Saba stay in one of its several small hotels, the majority of which are in or near to Windwardside. Their style is universally friendly and reflects a genuine desire to make sure you get what you want from your trip. In the best the management will help you arrange walks, dives and excursions and offer a personal service that makes it clear they appreciate the substantial effort you have made to get to their little island. That said, Saba is also a quiet, out-of-the-way place where complacency and laxity can also be encountered.

There are not huge profits to be made running a small hotel here and for some owners – who have often relocated here from North America or Europe - running one seems to be as much of a lifestyle choice as a business imperative. If you are coming here to relax, explore and stay in comfort, then there are only a couple of places truly worth your money. If your priorities are hiking and diving, the options widen.

Breakfast and wifi is normally included in room rates, which are subject to a government hotel tax of 5%. A service charge of 10-15%, and a nightly contribution to the Saba Conservation Fund, may also be applied to your bill.
