The Tobago villa rental scene has always been the island’s strongest accommodation feature, offering a far more superior holiday experience than any of the hotels. Unfortunately, the rental market has taken more than a bit of a knock in recent times due to a couple of tragic incidents and high profile media coverage about the security of tourists in private villas. The government have taken this seriously and measures are being put in place to give visitors the security they need when renting a villa.

Tobago villa rentals are dominated by a couple of agencies that stand above others in terms of their professionalism and the levels of service offered. These agencies offer their owners villa management and reservation services but they are generally less proactive than some other islands when it comes to international marketing but perhaps this is because they don’t need to be too busy – Tobago is a small island so the stock of villas for rent isn’t enormous.

Guests in Tobago villa rental properties can expect a daily maid/housekeeper from about 9am – 1pm , six days a week (excluding Bank Holiday). Staff from Tobago villa rental agencies are likely to be at the airport to meet you and make sure you are in a taxi that knows the way to your villa. They will have stocked up the villa with first day food supplies (depending on the terms of your rental at the time of booking) and will usually call you the day after your arrival to check that all is well.
