Cayman Islands / Kitesurfing/Windsurfing
Kite surfing is increasingly popular on Grand Cayman with a regular crowd of resident, experienced surfers congregating along the beaches at Barkers, at the West End of the island. A sheltered lagoon with shallow inshore waters makes this an attractive spot for learners – as you can stand up and remount if (and when) you fall off. Kite and windsurfing tuition is available here, and conditions at Rum Point at the eastern end of Grand Cayman are also suitable for beginners. Kite-surfing and windsurfing are possible at any time of year, though the ‘winter’ months have more reliable, and stronger winds above fifteen knots.
Kitesurf Cayman offer lessons and can supply equipment. The Kitehouse also offer lessons. Windsurfing is available from many of the resorts and watersports operators, and there are several launch sites around Grand Cayman.
