Jamaica’s beach life is legendary the world over from reggae jamming on the sand to serene bays that have been the inspiration for writers from Ian Fleming to Noel Coward. Families can find safe beaches with lifeguards and watersports, whilst honeymooners can find the perfect secluded bay for a champagne picnic at sunset.

Island Village is one of Jamaica’s newest attractions located on the beach just minutes from the cruise ship pier at Ocho Rios. With its picturesque open-air setting, boardwalk, natural spring lagoons and flowering trees, it reflects the raison d’etre of Jamaican beach life – to chill out and relax. And if you fancy a spot of nude sunbathing, there are a number of resorts  and a few beaches that cater for that at Oracabessa’s James Bond Beach and Negril’s Bloody Bay. Or take a boat ride to an island like Negril’s Booby Cay.

Beaches are the hub for much entrepreneurial activities and you’ll usually find someone trying to sell you a souvenir or take you for a glass bottom boat ride.
