St Kitts is all about getting back to nature and its pristine coast is a major part of this with miles of beautiful sand and turquoise ocean, the gateway to vast beds of coral, teeming with colourful fish. As with many islands, there is a distinct Atlantic coast and a gentler Leeward Caribbean coast. The island’s most secluded beaches lie on the South-east Peninsula and along the northern and south-western coastlines are intriguing black or grey sand sands. Beach life is all about swimming in the clear waters, collecting seashells, catching crabs and fishing along the bay shore. Families head to Frigate Bay with their picnics and there are plenty of beach based activities around the island including volleyball, snorkelling, diving, waterskiing, surfing and windsurfing. St Kitts beaches are perfect for horseback riding and on more developed beaches there’s always a rustic bar or restaurant serving tasty local cuisine.
