St Lucia / Beach Life

By Jane Anderson

Beach life in St Lucia is less dominant than other Caribbean islands mainly due to the lie of the land which means there are less long stretches of beach, and more coves and inlets. Most significant stretches of sand will have a resort close by, good restaurants and no doubt a rum shack or two. There are magnificent bays like Marigot which attract the chichi yachting community. Off the beaches of the south-west coast are the best snorkelling and dive sites in the protected marine park. When St Lucia parties, such as during the Jazz Festival in May, you’ll find a lot of the action centres around the beaches. And of course beach life in St Lucia caters for family fun, watersports, romance and even weddings.
