Caribbean Cruise and Sail

From bareboats to chic floating hotels...

By Sara Macefield

The Caribbean is a cruising hotspot.  With 7,000 islands ranging from large sophisticated resort islands to small deserted outposts, there is enough variety to tempt cruise ships of all sizes, from giant mega-ships accommodating more than 6,000 passengers to tiny luxurious craft barely carrying 100 people.

For those that care about the environment and the preservation of the region's reefs and marine life, the wonderful sleek tall ship cruises are more eco-friendly.  You will get more of a sense of the real Caribbean too because these vessels can take you to the smaller islands.

The Caribbean has been the favourite haunt for generations of sailors, and offers some of the best sailing areas in the world.  There is nothing more exhilerating than cutting through the water under sail, dropping anchor in deserted bays, and sleeping under the stars with the cooling Trade winds whispering through the night.
