Caribbean Stay Sail

Caribbean sailing holiday

The combination of a visit to a villa or hotel with a sailing holiday is a great way to experience the Caribbean. You can take off from or arrive at a jetty right in front of the hotel itself. A few hotels in the islands own yachts and offer ready-made “Sailaway” programmes, in which you can exchange nights in the hotel for nights on board. There are standard packages of say, five nights ashore and two afloat, or seven and three, but they are fairly flexible.

If your chosen hotel doesn’t offer a stay-sail package then you can still build your own. You simply arrange an independent yacht charter for a few days or another week to add to your hotel booking.

Very few villas in the Caribbean own a dedicated yacht, but some private villas are so well situated, with a jetty right on the waterfront, that it is a fantastic way to leave or arrive. Villas tend to have a minimum rental period of a week, but you can add as many days as you like on a crewed yacht or bareboat.

How to Book a Stay-Sail Holiday

If you would like to opt for a Sailaway programme, it is best ot look at the British Virgin Islands or the Grenadines - hotels such as Biras Creek and Peter Island in the BVI have a sailaway option as does Young Island in the Grenadines.

If your chosen hotel does not offer a stay-sail package, or if you’d like to create one from a villa, please look at our Yacht charter section in the island guide of your chosen destination to find the yacht charter companies that could create one for you.
