Not only is St Kitt’s popularity growing as a stop for cruise passengers, but last month the island welcomed its first visit by the world’s largest cruise ship Allure of the Seas.
Tourism minister Ricky Skerritt was reported as saying that the huge 6,000-passenger vessel, would be able to accommodate virtually the entire population of St Kitts’ sister island Nevis!
Over the last four years, St Kitts’ cruise business has tripled with the number of ship calls jumping from 100 to 250 a year taking the number of cruise visitors from 200,000 to approximately 600,000.
“We have not reached our limit,” Skerritt told Definitive Caribbean. “We think a million cruise visitors a year is the limit."
