Dominica / Food & Drink
Dominica is not a centre of gastronomic excellence though it arguably has a greater variety of home grown organic fruit and vegetables than anywhere else in the Caribbean. Eclectic, earthy fare is the norm, Macoucherie rum is produced locally and, at a time when certain mainstream destinations are importing fish from Florida, seafood here is freshly caught.Food is always wholesome, tasty, never bland, a testimony to the rich volcanic soils, a conducive microclimate and Amerindian and French creole cultural influences.
