Not content with hosting one of the biggest musical events in the Caribbean with its annual jazz festival, St Lucia boasts one of the liveliest party scenes too. The hub of this is Rodney Bay Village where the best nightlife is found at the bars, clubs and restaurants lining the streets. Here, night owls can take their pick from stylish cocktail bars and more atmospheric haunts along with lively clubs promising a mix of music, DJ’s and karaoke. The bars attract locals as well as tourists and the atmosphere is fun and exuberant, but there’s more of a local flavour at the Friday night parties and fish fry evenings at Gros Islet, Anse la Raye and Dennery where food is cooked on roadside stalls to the accompaniment of booming music.

Visitors wanting to eat out on St Lucia can take their pick from restaurants in spectacular settings with views of the island’s famous Pitons, or on the waterfront overlooking Castries harbour or at Rodney Bay. St Lucia is noted for its broad and expansive range of restaurants offering different styles of cuisine to suit all tastes and pockets, while the island’s rum distillery ensures that drinkers can sample 21 different varieties, including rum liquers. For those feeling more adventurous, there’s Bois Bande, a spicy concoction known locally as “liquid Viagra”!
