Dominica / Car Rental

Renting a vehicle in Dominica adds an extra dimension to the whole experience and there is less to fear from your fellow drivers than in other parts of the world. Driving is definitely less frenetic overall and courtesy is still part of the lexicon generally though, as everywhere, you’re bound to meet the odd exception. Always beware of the young speedster too.

To hire a car on Dominica you need to be over 25 years old and have at least 2 years driving experience.  If you are under 25 years old you may be able to get additional insurance cover to enable you to hire a vehicle. A local driver’s permit is essential for Dominica and will cost US$12 or EC$30.  The permit will be issued by the car rental company.
