St Barthélemy / Ferries

There is a good network of ferries that operate mainly from St Maarten, offering a more sedate transfer to St Barths than the journey by air. The fastest public crossing is by hydrofoil, which takes around 30 minutes, but for those wanting the privacy and glamour of their own private boat – or if a late flight arrival in St Maarten means there is no alternative, speedboats can be hired. But at cost of around 1,000 euros, they don’t come cheap.

Ferry companies servicing St Barths include:

Voyager, St Martin - Voyager makes the crossing twice daily, sometimes from Oyster Pond, otherwise from Marigot.

The Edge, St Maarten - The Edge makes a day trip from Simpson Bay five times a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, leaving St Maarten at 9am for the 45-minute crossing and returning from St Barths in the afternoon.

Great Bay Express, St Maarten - Daily service from Phillipsburg.

For private crossings contact Jicky Marine Service or Master Ski Pilou, both located in Gustavia.
