St Eustatius / Taxis
St Eustatius has around four licensed taxi drivers who generally have large vehicles that can take several passengers and their luggage. The tourist office publishes an up-to-date list of names and numbers, along with government-approved rates for journeys. A ride from the airport to Oranjestad, for example, costs $8.00 per person, plus $1 for two bags and tip. Fares are higher in the evening. You can also ask hotels and restaurants to call you a taxi - if you are catching a flight, make sure you book one in good time. Note that drivers may refuse to travel on poor quality roads, including out to the Miriam C. Schmidt Botanical Gardens.
