St Martin/St Maarten / Local Transport
If you don't want to drive, minibuses offer an inexpensive way to travel between key parts of St Martin/St Maarten. They are owner-operated and principally used by local workers so only ply routes where there is a chance of good custom, such as from Philipsburg to Cole Bay, Maho or Marigot. There are rarely bus services at night. Look for a sign on the windscreen displaying the destination and signal firmly if you want the bus to pick you up. Likewise you need to tell the driver where you would like to be dropped. Fares are only a few dollars and it is best to have small notes ready for payment on arrival.
