Tobago / Local Transport
While the government bus service (PTSC - Public Transport Service Corporation) is cheap, it is not usually that appropriate or convenient for travellers to the island. Catch it if you can, but remember that you will need to purchase your ticket before boarding. Tickets are on sale in some shops, many of which are closed on Sundays.
Far easier and more convenient are the private shared taxis or route taxis that travel along all the main routes on the island. These will squeeze you in if they have room, and sometimes if they don’t. Check the destination and fare before you get in.
Taxis
Official taxis are identified by an “H” symbol, so it is advisable to stick to these rather than the private taxis. Fares double after 9pm and should be checked and agreed with your driver before setting off.
Crown Point Taxi Service (airport) - If you wish to take a tour by taxi, then the charge is US$25 per hour.
Transfer rates from Crown Point Airport for 1-4 persons, prices in US dollars and may be subject to change:
Crown Point area - $7
Scarborough - $16
Mt Irvine - $14
Stonehaven Bay - $14
Arnos Vale - $16
Speyside - $50
Charlotteville - $60
