Getting there
Trip planning and booking - we show you the way...
The Caribbean is not difficult to get to with a huge network of flights that stretches from North and South America, the UK and Europe.
Not surprisingly the bulk of the flights are from the USA where most link the islands with major hubs such as Miami, New York, Atlanta and Philadelphia. In Canada, there are flights from key points such as Toronto and Montreal.
There are a handful of services to Central and South America and the likes of Brazil, Panama, Guyana, Venezuela and Suriname.
The UK accounts for the lion’s share of services from Europe, though there are direct flights to some islands from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Austria.
Services are mainly by scheduled carriers, but there are some charter flights that operate at peak times.
Some islands are too small to accommodate large jets, but the major hubs tend to be Antigua in the north of the region; Barbados, which has a good network of UK flights and inter-island services; and Trinidad, which is a good point in the southern Caribbean for accessing the South and Central American mainland.
