Anguilla / Getting There
Anguilla is not the easiest island to get to – and that is part of its exclusive appeal. Its main airport, Clayton J Lloyd International, does not have the facility to accommodate long-haul flights, so you will need to transit in another island nearby. The main hubs for Anguilla are St Maarten (from France, the Netherlands and the States), San Juan in Puerto Rico (from the States) and Antigua or St Kitts (from Britain).
It is the island’s only airport and boasts a pocket-size terminal, with a gift shop and restaurant landside, and a small departure lounge with another gift shop and cable TV, but no restaurant facilities. The airport is located close to Anguilla’s capital, The Valley, with a taxi ride costing around $6, but the main resorts in the West End are further, a $20 cab ride away. Alternatively, there is a good ferry service to St Martin/St Maarten operated by local companies which call at Marigot in St Martin or at the airport in St Maarten.
