Antigua and Barbuda / Flights

By Sara Macefield

Antigua is one of the main flight hubs of the Caribbean with an extensive range of air services to and from the UK and North America. Its location at the northern end of the Leeward island chain makes it an ideal point for regional services serving the north-eastern Caribbean. VC Bird International Airport is the home of LIAT, the main inter-island scheduled airline for the Eastern Caribbean and from here the carrier and other local airlines serve many of the smaller islands.

Barbuda is too small to receive international flights, but it can be reached by smaller local carriers such as SVG Airlines. However, unless travellers organise a private charter, they may need to overnight in Antigua as international flights generally arrive after the last scheduled service has departed.
