The Bahamas / Tour Operators

The huge range of hotels, rustic hideaways and cosy guest-houses scattered across the Bahamas gives this archipelago immense all-round appeal when it comes to different travellers. Mass market visitors are more attracted to the sprawling casino resorts on Nassau and Grand Bahama Island, which are featured by the larger travel organisers, while the more individual and atmospheric properties tucked away in the Out Islands tend to appeal to a different type of traveller. As such, they are often sold by a different sort of travel company. The better-known hotels in the Out Islands are featured by some long-haul specialists and upmarket travel organisers, but they tend to be the preserve of small companies that specialise in the islands. Then there are companies that focus on special-interests such as golf, diving or fishing, which are in abundance here. Travellers can also tap into Definitive Caribbean as their guide to the islands and use travel agents to put together a package specifically tailored to their needs or make their own arrangements. The key thing to remember is to book with a fully-bonded company or take out relevant insurance that will cover you if your chosen travel provider fails.
