Dominica / Local Organisers

A Local Organiser, Destination Management Company, or ‘Ground Handler’ as they are known in the travel industry, are the people that can make the difference to how your holiday goes from the moment you walk through Immigration, through to the moment you check-in your luggage to commence your journey home. They are ‘fixers’ that can arrange anything from a personalised tour to a special request, like a celebration dinner or a wedding. They often operate their own island tours and adventure packages or can use their contacts on the island to tailor-make something special for you and in this respect are adept at handling incentive and conference groups.

If you have booked through a tour operator or travel organiser, then the company will usually have its own local representative on the ground, a ‘ground handler’ who will meet you on arrival and take you to your hotel or resort. They can help with orientation and they will also take care of any requests or emergencies during your stay. Holidaymakers that book a flight-inclusive holiday from the UK/Europe should have the services of a local representative included in their package.
