Martinique / Getting There

Flights

From Europe, the best way to reach Martinique is to fly from Paris direct with Air France. For Canadians, Air Canada offers a weekly flight from Montreal. There are currently no direct flights from USA and the quickest way is to fly from Miami via Puerto Rico with American Airlines.

Fort de France is well connected with the rest of the Caribbean. AA offers a frequent service from Puerto Rico, Air Antilles Express fly from St Lucia and Guadeloupe and LIAT to St Lucia. Air Caraibes fly from St Lucia, Guadeloupe and also French Guyana in South America. Air France also operate the route between Martinique and French Guyana.

Passport/Visas

Canada 
A valid Canadian passport is required for Canadians intending to visit Martinique. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the date of your departure. 

United Kingdom 
British citizens must be in possession of a valid ten year passport and return ticket. 

United States 
Since January 2007, all US citizens visiting the Caribbean must be in possession of a valid US passport. 

US, Canadian and EU citizens including those from the UK are not required to obtain a visa to visit Martinique for tourist or business travel for stays of up to three weeks. If you plan to visit the island for longer, or for reasons other than tourism or business, you should contact a Martinique consulate or embassy office. Certain nationalities do require a visa. Please contact the nearest Martinique consulate or French embassy for more information.

Tourist Information

The main Office de Tourisme/Tourist Office on the island is on the waterfront in Fort-de-France. Information offices can also be found in various town halls and at the airport. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 7.30am-12.30pm and 2.30pm-5.30pm, Sat 8am-12 midday. You will find the tourist information offices at:

  1. Visit the historic town and former capital, Saint-Pierre, at the foot of te volcano, Mont Pelee
  2. Take a ferry to Pointe du Bout ad Trois-Ilets and visit the birthplace of Empress Josephine
