Saba / What to Pack
Saba is a mountainous island and the main tourist centre, Windwardside, rests at 1,300 ft (400m). This means it can at times be cooler and breezier than on the beach, so bring a sweater and long trousers. It may also rain quiet heavily, so a waterproof coat, small umbrella and strong footwear are useful.
If you are planning to hike a lot, take good walking boots as the trails are steep and at times muddy and slippery. Walking poles are very useful here and can be borrowed locally or bring your own collapsible version. A compass, torch, sun block and insect repellent are also essential equipment. If you are diving or snorkelling, you may choose to bring your own equipment, perhaps including an underwater camera, but bear in mind strict weight restrictions apply when you fly here.
Bear in mind that Saba is a small island with limited shopping, so bring all the good books, preferred medications, vital batteries and personal necessities you require. Electrical sockets take US-style plugs, so an adapter may be required. There is no opticians on the island.
