St Lucia / Getting There

St Lucia is well served by international flights, but if you are arriving direct from Europe, Canada or the Eastern Seaboard of the United States then you will fly into Hewanorra International Airport at the southern end of the island, the only airport that can take wide-bodied jets. While this is convenient for hotels near Soufriere it is a longer journey to hotels in the north of the island. They are better served by George F L Charles Airport (Vigie), close to the capital Castries. But as it only handles local flights, if you are arriving from another Caribbean island and staying in the north of St Lucia, it is better to arrive here. Travellers wanting to do this can take their pick from a good range of local flights to St Lucia from various other islands, in particular San Juan and Barbados.
