St Lucia / Regional Flights

By Sara Macefield

The network of local flights means that accessing St Lucia via another island is a viable alternative. Local services are often timed to coincide with the arrival of international services, but turnarounds can be tight if there is a delay, so be prepared to abandon your luggage if necessary and clothes and your swimming costume in your hand baggage. For those staying at hotels in the north of the island, it is more advantageous to arrive on a local flight as this will fly into George F L Charles Airport (Vigie), which can handle aircraft of up to 50 seats. There are services from a number of islands, but most connections tend to be via Barbados and Puerto Rico.

Local and regional airlines serving St Lucia include:

LIAT, flies up and down the island chain and to Barbados, and Air Caraïbes, which emanates from the French islands. SVG Air provide a useful daily shared charter service between St Lucia (Hewanorra)and St Vincent, Bequia and Canouan for anyone thinking of day trips or two-centre holidays.
