St Lucia / Flights

By Sara Macefield

Flights to St Lucia are clearly demarcated with aircraft from North America and the UK flying into Hewanorra International Airport in the south of the island near Vieux Fort as it is the only airport that can handle wide-bodied jets. This is convenient for those staying in and around Soufriere, but involves a longer transfer for those staying in the north of the island, particularly Rodney Bay. However George F L Charles Airport (SLU) or “Vigie” is situated conveniently close to the capital Castries and the hotels in the north of St Lucia. This “local” airport handles flights from other Caribbean islands on 50-passenger aircraft or less.
