St Martin/St Maarten / What to Pack

By Nigel Tisdall

St Martin/St Maarten is an easygoing holiday island with a relaxed dress code. There are many high class restaurants, particularly on the French side, where diners tend to dress in a chic, smart casual style. Pack loose, comfortable clothes and footwear that will be suitable for sightseeing and time on the beach – in the winter months a light jacket or pashmina will be useful. If you plan to go hiking walking boots will be helpful, and if you are diving or snorkelling you may want to bring your own equipment, perhaps including an underwater camera. However, as the island is full of shops you can pick up just about anything you might need when here - although there is no good bookstore.
