The combination of a visit to a villa or hotel with a sailing holiday is a great way to experience the Caribbean . You can take off from or arrive at a jetty right in front of the hotel itself. A few hotels in the islands own yachts and offer ready-made ‘Sailaway’ programmes, in which you can exchange nights in the hotel for nights on board. There are standard packages of say, five nights ashore and two afloat, or seven and three, but they are fairly flexible.
If your chosen hotel doesn’t offer a stay-sail package then you can still build your own. You simply arrange an independent yacht charter for a few days or another week to add to your hotel booking. If you know which island you would like to charter from click by island below.
Very few villas in the Caribbean own a dedicated yacht, but some private villas are so well situated, with a jetty right on the waterfront, that it is a fantastic way to leave or arrive. Villas tend to have a minimum rental period of a week, but you can add as many days as you like on a crewed yacht or bareboat.
HOW TO BOOK A STAY-SAIL HOLIDAY
Please note that the Cruising and Sailing sections of DefinitiveCaribbean are being developed at this time so the choices of products and destinations are limited but the products and companies featured are the best in their area.
If you would like to opt for a Sailaway programme, please see a list of hotels and villas that offer this style of holiday.
If your chosen hotel does not offer a stay-sail package, or if you’d like to create one from a villa, please see by island below for yacht charter companies that could create one for you.
