The currency of Guadeloupe is the Euro, which currently exchanges at roughly US$1 = €0.75.
US dollars and travellers’ cheques are accepted in payment for hotel bills and in tourist areas. Credit cards are also widely accepted however if you plan to explore the island and get out of the town, be sure to take euros. Many hotels will exchange money, but at a inferior rate to the banks. There are numerous Exchange Bureaus in the main city centres of Pointe à Pitre, Basse Terre, Gosier and Saint François.
