Martinique / Currency/Credit Cards

The currency of Martinique, which is part of France, is the Euro. It currently exchanges at roughly US$1 = €0.75. US dollars are accepted in large hotels but it is more convenient to carry euros for shops and restaurants. Major credit cards are accepted in tourist areas and in Fort de France. Traveller’s cheques in dollars or euros are accepted in many shops in town.
