Martinique / Telephone

The IDD code for Martinique is t 596 + 596 for land lines or 596 + 696 for mobile phones, followed by a six digit local number. On island all numbers are now ten digit, so you need to call 05 96 before the 6 digit number for land lines or 06 96 for cell phones – calls from France are considered local.

There are both payphones and card phones on the island. Phonecards (télécartes) are sold at post offices, newsagents and kiosks.

Roaming agreements exist with international mobile phone companies. Coverage extends throughout the French Antilles and in French Guiana.

There are a few internet cafes in Martinique, predominantly in the cities such as Fort de France and main tourist areas.
