St Martin
Musée de Marigot “Sur la Trace des Arawaks”, Marigot - Once a companion prison to Fort-Louis (on the hill above), this small two-storey museum offers an insight into the history of St Martin from its first settlement over 5,000 years ago to the 20th century. Exhibits include primitive tools, ceramics, shells, agricultural implements and early photographs of island life. Closed Sunday.
St Maarten
Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation, Philipsburg - A small museum devoted to the heritage of St Maarten with books and souvenirs on sale. The displays include engrossing finds from Fort Amsterdam and the wreck of HMS Proselyte. Closed weekends.
