Feona Gray

So many times I've been asked 'which is your favourite island?' - it's a question I always find difficult to answer. The Caribbean is one of the most diverse regions of the world; which island you choose depends at least in part on who you are going with and what interests you want to pursue. Why not be adventurous - go island hopping but take your time - the Caribbean people and their islands are worth getting to know!quote_close

Biography

FEONA GRAY is the co-founder and publisher of Definitive World Guides Ltd and The Definitive Caribbean Guide.  Feona has been involved with the travel industry at managerial level since 1969. She was the founder director of one of the UK's best small tour operators and a leading villa holiday company, The Owners' Syndicate, (Caribbean a la Carte, Villas a la Carte, Italy a la Carte). The company's award winning Caribbean programme (now part of the CV Travel Group) was borne from a combination of Feona's never ending love affair with the Caribbean, her pioneering spirit and her extensive experience and knowledge of the region. Feona has been at the helm since the sale of DWG Ltd to Duncan Moss and has co-ordinated the planning of this new website (launched January 2012).  She now fulfils the role of business consultant to the company and heads up the editorial team, working closely with all contributing journalists.

My Caribbean favourites

A few of my favourite Caribbean experiences:

Staying at a beachfront villa in Barbados, sipping an ice cold rum punch made by friendly villa staff and watching the sun go down on Gibbs Beach, all with the certain knowledge that I didn't have to cook supper!

Exploring dirt track roads that cling to forested hillsides on Tobago, being teased by tantalising views, not knowing where we would end up, getting stuck in the mud and covered with it, and then finding ourselves at the top of a hill and being rewarded by a breathtaking 360 degree view taking in Little Tobago to St Giles Island and beyond towards the Venezuelan coast.

Sailing in the British Virgin Islands, snorkelling at Jost Van Dyke, listening to Foxy's reggae and downing lethal 'Pain Killers' at Pusser's before a night's dancing on the beach at Cane Garden Bay! Who said the BVI aren't lively!
