Sara Macefield
Definitive Caribbean has been a resource that, as a journalist, I have long respected for its impressive attention to detail, accuracy and independence. It is a website I admire for its knowledge but, most importantly, it is one I feel I can trust. So there was no question in my mind over the benefits of becoming involved with Definitive Caribbean and developing my own knowledge and experience while contributing to a website whose expertise is well proven and truly gets under the skin of the Caribbean.

My Caribbean favourites
A few of my favourite Caribbean experiences:
Sipping a rum punch at Shirley Heights on Antigua; watching the sun set over Falmouth Harbour; and listening to a fabulous steel pan band. It might be touristy, but it contains all those best Caribbean ingredients - fabulous vistas, great music and good drinks in a laid-back and lively party atmosphere.
Sailing around the British Virgin Islands in a crewed yacht. Experiencing the beauty of the islands and the azure and emerald waters surrounding them that give you views you will never forget. Waking up in beautiful secluded bays and dropping anchor at rustic restaurants and lively bars full of fun and atmosphere. It is barefoot, chilled-out Caribbean at its best with the freedom to come and go as you please.
Enjoying a desert island experience off the coast of Andros in the Bahamas and revelling in the complete feeling of peace and seclusion with only a picnic hamper for company! Of spotting starfish on the beach and baby barracuda swimming with us in the shallows and living a castaway existence for a few blissful hours.
Jumping on a boat off the coast of Grand Cayman and messing about on the water; snacking on tasty conch marinated in lime and then plunging into the crystalline waters to swim with tame sting-rays, and hand-feeding them squid.
