The flat island of Anguilla is mostly about beach life for visitors. The plush deep sands of Meads Bay and one of the longest stretches of beach make this a wonderful spot to enjoy a leisurely stroll and refreshing swim and also great for snorkelling. At one end is Malliouhana Hotel and Spa (currently closed for refurbishment by new owners) and at the other is Viceroy Anguilla and in between a good choice of smaller properties such as Carimar Beach Club, Frangipani Resort, Meads Bay Villas and Anacaona Boutique Hotel and a selection small locally owned and run apartment properties.
Cap Juluca one of Anguilla’s first five star resorts is pride of place on Maundays Bay. With a choice a dining from casual breakfast, lunch and dinner, Pimms for more stylish evening dining, Flights for a glass of wine at sunset and Maundays Bar for an evening cocktail or night cap mixed in on a Friday with some fabulous music. As with all Anguilla beaches it is public and you will often see groups of children enjoying a swim and lunch under the shade of the sea grapes.
Shoal Bay West has the most amazing modern architecture with Altamer Villas, Cove Castle and a private home and little Blue Waters apartments. Peaceful and private and the only restaurant is Trattoria Tramonto casual Italian dining with an A-list following. This is a very quiet part of the island and those in-the-know love it.
Rendezvous Bay is a beautiful arc of powder soft sand with calm and clear water and the longest beach in Anguilla, there are wonderful views across to the hills of St Martin. The bay is home to a number of villas and hotels.
CuisinArt Resort and Spa is on the beach with it great dining options and spa. From beach deck café, Caribbean barbecue nights to fine dining this is the place to relax and unwind. Café Mediterraneo for casual dining breakfast and lunch, Santorini for more romantic and formal dining and a great selection of small plates/ tapas served at the bar.
Anguilla Great House a long established hotel one of Anguilla’s Charming Escapes properties offering the perfect location for a casual getaway and great dining at The Olde Caribe Restaurant. Open air pool side with beautiful views across the bay.
Shoal Bay East is a stunning stretch of powder white beach has a great history and offers a casual choice of dining options. Here you’ll find Serenity Restaurant and apartments, Maderiaman beach bar and around the corner is Gwen’s Reggae Grill and Alamanda Hotel and Zara’s offering excellent local cuisine with the freshest produce from land and sea. Great for snorkelling and diving.
