Anguilla's summer carnival is the high point of the year – but it’s not the only event that sets this tiny island partying. Its heritage of boat racing, a tradition that goes back centuries, has spawned a major sport with numerous races that culminate in the festivities of Boatracing week. On a musical note, Anguilla’s annual calendar is also spiced up by musical events such as the Moonsplash Music Festival, held in March.

Carnival - the Summer Festival is Anguilla’s equivalent to carnival and kicks off at the end of July for ten days into the first week in August. Events include the Miss Anguilla Beauty Pageant, calypso competitions, a children’s parade and junior Band-o-rama, a series of boat races, J’Ouvert (an early morning street parade) and the grand parade of troupes, where bands of costumed revellers take to the streets. Visitors come from all over the globe to take part in the height of the celebration: August Monday, (which, as the name implies, falls on the first Monday in August).

Boatracing Week - this is held every August, during the island’s carnival celebrations.

Tranquility Jazz & Golf Festival - held in November, this four-day event is in its 9th year and attracts international and regional artists.
