Anguilla / Special Interests / Conservation

By Sara Macefield

As one of the lesser-known and developed Caribbean islands, Anguilla has taken steps to preserve its unspoilt environment both on land and at sea and a special heritage tour aims to open up the territory’s heritage attractions.

The Anguilla National Trust, established in 1993, has a number of projects that aim to protect the ecology of the island. Their Eco-Tourism Project offers a guided Heritage Bus Tour of the eastern end of Anguilla. They also work in collaboration with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in order to protect the birdlife of the island.
