British Virgin Islands / Special Interests / Corporate & Incentives

By Sara Macefield

The British Virgin Islands do not have an onshore incentive or conference market of any size. There are no big meeting halls (the Exhibition Centre in Shirley Grounds is really a large gymnasium) and there is very little meeting space. A hotel would of course find a way if you particularly wanted but in general they are not that well set up for anything larger than a small meeting.

In the BVIs we recommend the services of the following local organisers::

Romney Associates, Road Town

Conference Venues

Hotels and resorts in the British Virgin Islands with meeting facilities include:

Long Bay Beach Resort, Tortola - This resort can cater for executive conferences, seminars or sales meetings in a beautiful setting. Its conference room seats 100 people theatre-style and is equipped with audio-visual equipment and WiFi.

Bitter End Yacht Club, Virgin Gorda - The numerous activities on offer at this sporty resort make it ideally placed for team-building or team-bonding sessions or as a corporate retreat. It has its own 2,700 sq ft conference centre, that can accommodate up to 80 people theatre-style and this is equipped with a projector and projection screen, public address system, speakerphone, blackboard and flipchart. The club has a special events co-ordinator who can build a programme of activities to include customised watersports – something that can also lend itself to incentive groups.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda - This property can cater for gatherings of up to 200 people and offers several options for private meetings and receptions. It has a boardroom that can take up to 20 people and meeting rooms that can hold up to 150 theatre-style or 200 for a reception. They come equipped with audio-visual and presentation tools, plus high-speed internet access. The resort can also be hired out in its entirety. There is a business centre which offers services such as recording CDs, computer services, customised name badges, desktop printing, faxes and scanning.

Groups wanting to try a castaway experience can hire some of the archipelago’s private islands, including Guana Island, which can take 40 people, Peter Island Resort, which can cater for 130; or Necker Island, which can accommodate 26.

There are also good possibilities for a board meeting with a difference on board a yacht, but space can understandably be limited. Some of the larger private yachts (50-100 passengers) might be able to arrange conference facilities for you.
