It is easy to make a self-guided tour of all three Cayman Islands, and most hotels will recommend a taxi driver if you want to make a half-day or full day excursion to specific sites. Grand Cayman is worth exploring, and a full day tour will allow you to get a feel for the difference in atmosphere between the central area around Seven Mile Beach and the quieter districts at the East and West ends of the island. A fixed itinerary isn’t necessary – just set off with a map and discover a roadside jerk-shop for a snack lunch or buy some provisions and find a shady spot on one of the quiet beaches all around the island.

Frequent inter-island flights make it perfectly possible to spend a full day on one of the Sister Islands – or just a night away as an interesting add-on to a stay on Grand Cayman. The flights to Little Cayman and the Brac take only half an hour. For something different, Cayman Helicopters operate exciting tours around Grand Cayman and even over the water to see Stingray City.
