Nevis / Special Interests / Family

By Jane Anderson

Nevis is a small, sleepy island that welcomes kids. Although it may have been true a few years ago that the island had a more adult atmosphere with most hotels catering for a couples crowd, the tourist board has made a big push to attract families with its new Kids ‘r’ VIPs programme for children aged 2-15 years. Each child will receive a Kids ‘r’ VIPs booklet where they can collect stamps for specialist activities such as the Nevis Cycle and Triathlon Club or Nevis Cultural Theatre. When kids have five stamps in their book they will receive a special Kids ‘r’ VIPs gift.

Montpelier Plantation and Hermitage Plantation Inn both welcome kids along with the Four Seasons Resort Nevis which as partnered with one of the world’s oldest sea turtle survival leagues to provide an eco-tourism programme for youths that focuses on Nevis’ endangered sea turtles.

Restaurants are also upping their game when it comes to families. Chrishi Beach Club Lounge and Restaurant has opened a kids club with kids menus, toys and Wii.

Villas on Nevis are still a good option for families especially in high season or for families that want self catering. Many have private pools and a tennis court. Most have private pools.
