St Vincent and the Grenadines / Special Interests / Golf

By Peter Ellegard

There is one golf course in St Vincent and the Grenadines, on the island of Canouan. It forms part of the former Raffles Resort and Trump Development, now The Grenadines Estate and Canouan Resort, but visitors can also play the course.

Grenadines Estate Golf Club (formerly Trump International Golf Club) - A spectacular course draped over wooded hills and along the edge of the Caribbean, it was designed by Jim Fazio and is an 18-hole, par 72 layout (par 70 off the championship tees) measuring 6900 yards. The course covers 140 acres above the Canouan Resort (formerly Raffles) and features elevation changes of almost 500 feet, with the first 10 holes and the 18th situated within a natural amphitheatre and holes 11 to 17 winding around Mount Royal and giving commanding views. Standout holes include the par-5 6th, which runs along the ocean, the par-4 15th, with tees cut into rock and a drive of 310 yards needed to reach safety, and the 16th – at 304 yards, one of the longest par-3 holes in the world and which drops down over 200 feet. Resort guests enjoy preferential rates; visitors must buy a daily ticket. Green fees include buggies. Club rental is available, as are lessons.
