The highlight of the social yachting calendar is the Tobago Carnival Regatta (formerly Angostora Tobago Sail Week), which has been going since 1983 and originally held in May. The 2011 regatta saw the classic yachts move over to race in Trinidad, and the windsurfing and kiting events becoming more prominent. The event is renowned not only for its sailing but also for its friendly atmosphere, and serious partying. The event is centred around the Regatta Village, which has moved from Crown Point to the North Beach at Pigeon Point Heritage Park. Dates for 2012 are 24-26 February.
